Empowering Girls

Over the summer I was pleased to have the opportunity to work with The Guides on a number of occasions. I remember teenage years being a very confusing and challenging time and research has shown that teenagers can suffer with low self-esteem as they are going through so many changes physically and mentally during this stage.

I delivered a ‘Wonderful Me’ self-love doodle workshop which the girls seemed to thoroughly enjoy. I definitely noticed a reluctance to accept praise or be able to state their strengths and qualities so it was great to have the chance to encourage them to reflect on their abilities and personalities and draw these out in a positive, empowering way.

Our second creative session was a self-belief workshop where the activity was to create ‘Believe In Yourself Bunting’ designing affirmation cards that the girls had chosen to inspire, motivate and remind them to always believe in themselves.

I’m hugely passionate about working with young people and helping them to develop a strong sense of self worth and understand the power of a positive mindset. I believe that developing tools when you are young can help support resilience and well-being.
